Seishi Takamura, Hosei University/NTT Corporation, Japan

Seishi Takamura received the B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Tokyo in 1991, 1993 and 1996, respectively. In 1996 he joined Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Corporation, where he has been engaged in research on efficient video coding and ultra-high quality video coding. He has fulfilled various duties in the research and academic community in current and prior roles including Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, Executive Committee Member of IEEE Tokyo Section, Japan Council and Region 10 (Asia-Pacific). He has also served as Chair of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 Japan National Body, Japan Head of Delegation of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29, and as an International Steering Committee Member of the Picture Coding Symposium. From 2005 to 2006, he was a Visiting Scientist at Stanford University, California, USA. He had served as a Senior Distinguished Engineer at NTT Computer and Data Science Laboratories until 2022 and currently he is a visiting Secnior Distinguished Engineer at NTT and a Professor of Hosei University. Dr. Takamura is a Fellow of IEEE, IEICE, ITE and IPSJ, and a member of MENSA and APSIPA.

Ning Xu, Kuaishou US R&D Center, USA

Ning Xu is currently a Chief Scientist of Video Algorithms and head of the Lab of Advanced Image/Video Algorithms at Kuaishou US R&D Center. Before that, he was a Principal Applied Scientist at Amazon Go and a Principal Research Scientist and Manager at Snap Research. Prior to joining Snapchat, he has been working with Dolby Laboratories, Inc. and Samsung Research America. Dr. Ning Xu obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Ning Xu co-authored 100+ journal and conference papers, patents and patent applications. His research interests include image and video processing, computer vision, deep learning, audio/speech, and other related areas. He is a senior member of IEEE.

Zhou Ren, Wormpex AI Research, USA

Dr. Zhou Ren is currently a Principal Research Manager at Wormpex AI Research. Prior to joining Wormpex AI Research, he has been working at Snap Inc. as a Senior Research Scientist. Dr. Zhou Ren has co-authored 50+ journal, conference papers, and patents. His research interests include computer vision, multimedia, natural language processing, and machine learning. His team has won the First Place in ICCV 2021 Low Power Computer Vision Challenge (video track), and won the Runner-up Prize in NIPS 2017 Adversarial Attack and Defense Competition. One of his work has been nominated to the ¡§CVPR 2017 Best Student Paper Award¡¨; and he is the winner of the ¡§IEEE Trans. on Multimedia 2016 Best Paper Award¡¨. He serves as the Associate Editor of The Visual Computer Journal since 2018 and the Area Chair of CVPR 2021, CVPR 2022, and WACV 2022. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from University of California, Los Angeles.

Toshihiko Sugie, Hokkaido University, Japan

Toshihiko Sugie is an adviser to the Institute for the Promotion of Business-Regional Collaboration of Hokkaido University, Japan. Before that, he was a Senior Technology Strategist of NTT Electronics Corporation, Japan, where he focused on Optical network/device, Optical Access, and Future Information and Communication Technologies. Prior to this, he had been with Nippon Telegram and Telephone Corporation (NTT), where engaged in research and development of optical transmission systems, and optical modules/devices, especially access network systems (Fiber to the Home - FTTH), wavelength multiplexing technologies (WDM), and next generation network architecture. He received the B.S., M.S. and Dr. Eng. degrees in electronics engineering from Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan, in 1977, 1979, and 1986, respectively. He is a Life Senior member of IEEE, Photonics and Communications Society. And he is also the Institute of Electrics, Information, and Communication Engineers (IEICE) of Japan. He received the 1984 Paper Award, the 1986 Young Engineer Award, from the IEICE, and the 4th NTT President¡¦s Award 1988.

Cheng-Kuang Lee, NVIDIA, Taiwan

Dr. Cheng-Kuang (CK) Lee currently serves as a senior solution architect since 2018 and leads NVAITC-TW (NVIDIA AI Technology Center ¡V Taiwan). Dr. Lee worked in TSMC during 2016 - 2018 as principal engineer of YEP (Yield Excellence Program) for developing machine learning and deep learning technology for defect inspection. From 2012 to 2016, he was assistant professor of EE department and Graduate Institute of medical mechatronics of Chang Gung University (CGU). He received the B.S degree in Physics in 2003, and the PhD degree in 2010 from Graduate Institute of Photonics and Optoelectronics, both from National Taiwan University (NTU). His research and scientific interests include deep learning and machine learning algorithm development, Medical or Industrial imaging system, like Optical Coherence Tomography/Microscopy, ultrasound, MRI, CT etc. In 2020, Dr. Lee support NVIDIA global Covid-19 Federated Learning project to predict oxygen need in triage and the result is published in Nature Medicine. He also supports the National Taiwan University Hospital to develop HeaortaNet, a model for segmenting heart, ascending/descending aorta with non-contrast CT. The HeaortaNet project won Future Tech Award 2021 and National Innovation Award in 2021. He led a team in NVIDIA to collaborated with NYMU prof Ching-Po Lin to win Top 4 rank in the world of PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS COMPETITION (PAC 2019) for predicting brain age based on structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and collaborated with NTHU prof Chi-Chun (Jeremy) Lee's lab to win Top 1 rank of Interspeech 2019 ComParE challenge, and obtained Silver medal (20/468 Top 5%) in Inclusive Images Challenge (Google AI challenge) on Kaggle.com in 2018.

Shan Liu, Tencent, USA

Shan Liu is a Distinguished Scientist and Vice President of Tencent Media Lab at Tencent America. Prior to Tencent she was the Chief Scientist and Head of America Media Lab at Futurewei Technologies, a.k.a. Huawei USA. She also held senior management and technical positions at MediaTek, Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories, Sony Electronics / Sony Computer Entertainment America, and IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. Dr. Liu is the inventor of more than 200 US and global patent applications and the author of more than 30 journal and conference articles. Many of her inventions have been adopted by international standards such as ITU-T H.265 | ISO/IEC HEVC, MPEG-DASH and OMAF, as well as utilized in widely sold commercial products. She has chaired and co-chaired a number of ad-hoc and technical groups through standard development and served as a Co-Editor of Rec. ITU-T H.265 v4 | ISO/IEC 23008-2:2017. She has been in technical and organizing committees, or an invited speaker, at various international conferences such as IEEE ICIP, VCIP, ICNC, ICME and ACM Multimedia. Haohong Wang, TCL Research, USA

Haohong Wang is the General Manager of TCL Research America at San Jose, California. Prior to joining TCL, he held technical and management positions at AT&T, Catapult, Qualcomm, Marvell and Cisco. He is the inventor of 50+ patents and pending applications, and co-author of 5 books and 50+ articles in journals and conferences. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Communications, and has been a member of the Steering Committee of the IEEE Transactions on Multimedia. He co-chairs the IEEE Technical Committee on Human Perception and Multimedia Computing, and has chaired the IEEE Multimedia Communications Technical Committee. He chairs the Steering Committee of ICNC conference, and has served as the General Chair of IEEE ICME 2011 and IEEE VCIP 2014, and as the TPC Chair of IEEE GLOBECOM 2010. Yang Lei, HP Labs, USA

Yang Lei is a Senior Research Scientist at HP Labs,Palo Alto CA, leading the imaging and 3D visionsystems design and development in multiple projects. Ming Xia is with Alibaba. Prior to this, he worked at LinkedIn in Mountain View, CA, Ericsson Research Silicon Valley in San Jose, CA, and National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NiCT) in Tokyo, Japan. He is the inventor of 20+ patents and pending applications, and co-author of 80+ articles in journals and conferences. He is on the editorial board of Journal of Telecom Systems, and is a guest editor of Journal of Computers & Electrical Engineering. Chongyang Ma, Kwai, USA

Dr. Chongyang Ma is currently a Research Lead heading the Graphics AI team at Kuaishou Technology (Kwai Inc.). Previously he was a Sr. Research Scientist at Snap Research. Prior to that, he was a Senior Research Engineer at Activision Central Tech. From 2012 to 2015, he was a postdoc researcher at UBC and USC. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science and B.S. in Mathematics and Physics, both from Tsinghua University.

Yu-Chiang Frank Wang, National Taiwan University, Taiwan

Frank Wang received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2001. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, USA, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. He joined the Research Center for Information Technology Inno-vation (CITI), Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2009 as an Assistant Research Fellow, leading the Multimedia and Machine Lab at CITI. He was later promoted as an Associate Research Fellow in 2013. From 2015 to 2017, He also served as a Deputy Directorof CITI. In 2017, he joined the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering of National Taiwan University as an Associate Professor, and was promoted to Professor in 2019. He leads the Vision and Learning Lab and focuses on research topics of computer vision and machine learning. He serves as the member of Senior Program Committee, Program Committee and Area Chairs at multiple international conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, AAAI, and related academic activities. Several of his papers were nominated for the best paper awards at IEEE ICIP, IEEE ICME and IAPR MVA. He was twice selected as the Outstanding Young Researchers by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. He also currently holds the position as the AI Advisory Consultant at ASUS Intelligent Could Services.

Chia-Wen Lin, NTHU, Taiwan

Chia-Wen Lin received his Ph.D. gree in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu, Taiwan in 2000. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Institute of Communications Engineering of NTHU. He also serves as Deputy Director of the AI Research Center of NTHU. Prior to joining NTHU in 2007, he worked for the Department of Computer Science & Information Engineering of National Chung Cheng University, Chiayi, Taiwan from 2000 to 2007, and for Industrial Technology Research Center from 1992 to 2000. He is an IEEE Fellow (class of 2018) and a Member of APSIPA. He was Conference Chair for IEEE VCIP 2019, TPC Chair for IEEE ICIP 2019 and IEEE ICME 2010, and Award Chair and Forum Chair for APSIPA ASC 2013. He has also served as Associate Editor for four IEEE journals. He received the Best Paper Award from IEEE VCIP 2015. Sunil Sivadas, NCS CorpLabs, Singapore

Sunil Sivadas is a Lead Research Scientist and Associate Director of CorpLabs in NCS Product & Platforms department. He leads the research and development of applied machine learning and natural language processing for accelerating customer¡¦s digital transformation needs. He directs many research projects in Singtel Cognitive and Artificial Intelligence Lab for Enterprises at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Prior to joining NCS, he was the unit head of Human Language Technology department in Institute for Infocomm Research, A*STAR, Singapore.

Gang Yu, Tecent, China

Gang Yu is a research director at Tencent. He received Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Before joining Tencent, he was the team leader in Megvii, leading the development of detection/segmentation techniques for mobile and embedded devices. He has published more than 30 papers on top journals and conferences. He is the winner for more than ten challenges, including COCO detection/skeleton (2017 & 2018), Widerface Face Detection (2018), ActivityNet AVA Detection (2018), and WAD Instance Segmentation (2018). He received Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship in 2011.

Wei Xia, Amazon, USA

Dr. Wei Xia is a Principal Scientist at Amazon, leading the research efforts in Amazon Rekognition, an AWS cloud AI service for large scale visual recognition. Previously he was the Chief Scientist and a founding member for Orbeus Inc., which was acquired by Amazon in Sep 2015. He was leading the research to support both the ReKognition APIs and consumer-end products, like Phototime, the first intelligent photo album. Wei obtained his Phd in computer vision from National University of Singapore and conducted research at Panasonic and Lund University, etc. He has published 20+ papers and filed 20+ US patents. He also served as the reviewer in top-tiered conferences and journals, like TPAMI/ICCV/CVPR, etc. He has won the winner awards of PASCAL VOC classification and segmentation competition in 2012, runner-up award in ILSVRC challenge 2013, and winner award of ILSVRC detection challenge in 2014. Together with his colleagues in AWS, he also initiated a new research direction of ML model compatibility and co-organized the first tutorial of this topic in CVPR 2021.

Tian Lan, Amazon, USA

Dr. Tian Lan is a Principal Scientist and Research Manager at Amazon. He is leading the Amazon Go research team to develop the world¡¦s first ever Just Walk Out technology to re-invent retail using computer vision and deep learning. Prior to joining Amazon, he was a post-doctoral researcher at Stanford University in 2013-2014. Dr. Lan received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University in 2013. He earned his M.Sc. also from Simon Fraser, in 2010, and his B.Eng. from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2008. Yuning Jiang is the director of Ads Engineering Business Unit of Alibaba Inc. Prior to joining Alibaba, Jiang has been working with Bytedance AI Lab and Megvii Inc. as a research scientist. Kazuo Sugimoto is a senior department manager at Information Technology R&D Center, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan, where he is leading a department of researchers working on AI related R&D. Qirui Huang received his Bachelor Degree and Master degree in optical communications, both from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuahn, P. R. China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. He received his Ph.D degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in 2011. Shang-Hong Lai is currently a principal researcher at Microsoft AI R&D Center, where he leads a team focusing on computer vision research related to face related applications. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan and the Ph.D. degree from University of Florida, Gainesville, USA. He joined Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, New Jersey, USA, as a member of technical staff in 1995.
